Hanoi hosts conference on parallels between Azerbaijani and Vietnamese cultures

A conference titled "Parallels between Azerbaijani and Vietnamese cultures" has been held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Co-organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Vietnam and Azerbaijani History and Culture Research Centre, the event brought together members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Hanoi, teachers at Vietnam's higher education institutions and Vietnamese graduates of Azerbaijani universities.
In his remarks, Azerbaijani ambassador to Vietnam Anar Imanov hailed the friendly ties between the two countries, saying the conference coincided with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
The ambassador highlighted the activities of First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva towards promoting the Azerbaijani culture around the world.
"As a result of the successful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan's model of multiculturalism and tolerance has become an example to the world".
Director of the Azerbaijani History and Culture Research Centre Dao Xuan Tien hailed the importance of the conference in terms of increasing the awareness of Vietnamese officials as well as the country`s general public of the Azerbaijani culture.
Rector of Vietnam National Music Academy Le Anh Tuan highlighted the similarities between the Azerbaijani and Vietnamese music. He said that he was interested in rich musical culture and national musical instruments of Azerbaijan when he studied in the country.
Director of the Institute Francophone International Ngo Tu Lap said that both Azerbaijan and Vietnam have historically fought against foreign invaders for the independence and national statehood, saying patriotism and struggle are features characteristic of the two peoples.
The conference featured a concert of Azerbaijani and Vietnamese music performed by an instrumental ensemble of Vietnam's National Music Academy.
The event also featured a presentation of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue to be held in Baku on May 5-6.
