Baku, July 10, AZERTAC
“Our main goal is to expand relations and improve cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in the field of information,” said Deputy Minister for Press and Information of Iran`s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Hossein Entezami as he met with Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov.
He highlighted historically good neighborly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, saying that the two nations are bound by ties of common culture and history.
Entezami stressed the significance of the fact that agencies of the two countries took a careful approach to regional events.
“AZERTAC has rich history. The agency`s successful cooperation with IRNA contributes to the development of bonds between the nations,” he said.
They exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects, media development trends, and the organization of reciprocal visits.
Director General Aslanov highlighted Azerbaijan`s development in all fields, saying “the country has become a place for the discussion of international problems”.
“In the first years of independence, Azerbaijan was in information blockade. It was thanks to national leader Heydar Aliyev`s coming to power that allowed Azerbaijan to promote the international community`s awareness of its realities.”
Mr. Aslanov also hailed works done under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to develop the Azerbaijani press.
“AZERTAC is an active member of several regional news alliances. The agency chairs News Agencies World Congress and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies,” he said.
The Director General also highlighted AZERTAC`s successful cooperation with IRNA, saying “the two agencies support each other within international organizations”.
