Iranian FM: Azerbaijan is one of our close friends

Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif has said his country considers Azerbaijan one of its close friends.
Mr Javad Zarif met chairman of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijani Parliament, Ogtay Asadov in Baku.
The Iranian FM said relations between the two countries have deep roots. He hailed the development of ties between the two countries.
Mr. Asadov noted the intensification of reciprocal visits, and expressed confidence that the Iranian FM`s current trip will be a success. He said the Azerbaijani and Iranian heads of state met four times just last year, hailing this as “a vivid evidence of the development of the bilateral relations”. Mr Asadov described Iran as a neighbor, fraternal and partner country for Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijan`s relations with Iran are developing in various directions. More than 100 bilateral documents have been signed between the two countries up to now. There is wide potential for the development of economic cooperation. So, we need to elevate our economic relations to a higher level,” he added.
The sides underlined the role of parliaments in the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
