Israeli President refers to Khojaly tragedy in his speech at UN General Assembly
Baku, January 30, AZERTAC
President of Israel Reuven Rivlin has mentioned the Khojaly genocide as he addressed the UN General Assembly marking the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
According to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, speaking on the struggle against Anti-Semitism, chauvinism and crime against humanity, the Israeli President said: “On this day we must ask ourselves honestly - is our struggle, the struggle of this Assembly, against genocide, effective enough? Was it effective enough then in Bosnia? Was it effective in preventing the killing in Khojaly? Of Afghans by the Taliban? Is it effective enough today in Syria? Or in the face of the atrocities of Boko Haram in Nigeria?”
Mr Rivlin urged more action to prevent “such crimes in the future”.
