The oldest person in Japan, a Tokyo woman born on March 15, 1900, died Sunday at the age of 115, the welfare ministry said Monday, according to Japan Times.
With the passing of the woman, whose name is being withheld at the request of her family, Nabi Tajima, a 115-year-old woman born on Aug. 4, 1900, and living in Kagoshima Prefecture, becomes the nation's oldest person, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said.
Japan's oldest man is 112-year-old Yasutaro Koide, a resident of Nagoya.
