Magnitude 5.5 quake hits south-western Japan, no tsunami threat

A magnitude 5. 5 earthquake has struck off Japan's south-western coast in Kagoshima prefecture, but there was no risk of a tsunami, the Japan Meteorological Agency said on Monday.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
