Meeting of working group on Caspian legal status underway in Baku VIDEO

The 48th meeting of the special working group for drafting a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states has today kicked off in Baku.
In his opening remarks, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov highlighted the agreements on the provisions of the draft convention on the sidelines of the negotiation process.
"The signing of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea as soon as possible will contribute to more efficient measures aimed at further interaction and cooperation in a variety of fields of the Caspian littoral states."
The Deputy FM noted that the sixth meeting of the parties to the Framework Convention for the Protection of Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea is planned to be held in Baku. "We are interested in expanding cooperation between the Caspian littoral states in order to solve the environmental problems of the Caspian Sea, and we note the importance of the agreement of the parties on the independent activities of the Secretariat of the Framework Convention," Khalafov said.
