Washington, March 1, AZERTAC
Executive of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, Chris Abele has issued a proclamation recognizing February 25-26 as the 24th anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre.
“On the night of February 25-26, 1992, the Armenian armed forces attacked the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly.” The proclamation said the attacks resulted in many tortured and missing civilians, including women, children and the elderly.
"The international community's condemnation of this atrocity was swift and strong, although no country has formally taken responsibility for the tragedy. Given the impact of the 1992 Khojaly Massacre to the Azerbaijani people, it is only appropriate that the victims be properly recognized and remembered," the proclamation said.
