Ministry of Agriculture and International Finance Cooperation signs agreement

Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture and the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) have signed agreement on increasing productivity and competitiveness in the country's agricultural sector in Baku, on December 18, press-service of ministry reported.
Minister Haydar Asadov said that the agreement aims to increase productivity and competitiveness in Azerbaijan's agricultural sector. He considered appropriate to continue cooperation with IFC in this area in practical level and the use of the experience of the European Union.
IFC representative in Azerbaijan Aliya Azimova said that the corporation together with the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture was preparing a technical assistance project for agricultural insurance and financing.
“IFC is ready to support development of regulatory framework in this sphere. In addition, the technical aspects will also be worked out again. Thus, we are working on creation of statistical database and consolidate agricultural and climatic statistical data for this aim”, she said.
