News Agencies of CIS countries sign agreement on photo exchange

The News Agencies of CIS countries have signed an agreement on photo exchange. The agreement was signed as part of the 21st meeting of the CIS State Information Agencies Council in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Director General of TASS and Chairman of CIS State Information Agencies Council Sergey Mikhailov, officials of the state news agencies of Azerbaijan (AZERTAC), Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee took part in the meeting.
Director General of TASS Sergey Mikhailov highlighted the progress achieved by the Council across the last year, as well as jointly implemented projects. The Director General said bilateral cooperation among the news agencies of the CIS countries contributed to deepening the humanitarian relations and development of bonds.
Assistant of the President Tajikistan on Social Development and Public Relations Abdujabbor Rakhmonzoda highlighted the efforts taken by the Council that brings together the CIS countries.
Participants of the meeting summarized 2015 activities of news agencies, discussed cooperation plans for the current year. The meeting also accentuated issues of cooperation between CIS photo services and preparation for 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth, which will be celebrated in December. Leaders of state information agencies also discussed the implementation of joint projects.
An agreement to set up the CIS Information Council was signed in Moscow in 1995 to promote the development of information exchange between the countries of the Commonwealth. The Council pays great attention to the development of news agencies and new media interaction.
