President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Russia's Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
President Ilham Aliyev said Russian President Vladimir Putin`s recent visit to Azerbaijan was successful. The head of state said the Azerbaijani and Russian presidents discussed areas covering a broad spectrum of the bilateral relations, adding that the two countries were maintaining successful military and military-technical cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev noted that during their meeting the heads of state stressed that the high level of Azerbaijani-Russian ties allowed to address the issues relating to different areas of the bilateral relations as well as regional security.
The head of state said given that Azerbaijan participated in the International Army Games, which were recently held in Russia, for the first time, the country`s performance could be considered as successful. The President congratulated the Russian team on its victory in the games.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence that the Russian Defence Minister`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to discussions on prospects for cooperation in military and military-technical areas.
Sergei Shoigu noted the importance of Russian President Vladimir Putin`s visit to Azerbaijan and his meetings with President Ilham Aliyev in terms of the expansion of the bilateral relations and cooperation in military and military-technical areas.
Sergei Shoigu hailed active participation of representatives of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the International Army Games held in Russia.
