President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by chairman of the House of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zuhurov.
The head of state expressed confidence that the visit of chairman of the House of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zuhurov to Azerbaijan with a large delegation will be successful, and long-term relations between the two countries will be further developed. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with pleasure his recent meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Bishkek, adding they exchanged views over a number of issues. Noting that bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan are based on very good friendly and fraternal relations, the head of state said the two countries supported each other on all issues. Underling that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan successfully cooperate, President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of reciprocal visits in terms of strengthening the bilateral relations. The head of state also hailed interparliamentary relations.
Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zuhurov conveyed greetings of President Emomali Rahmon to the head of state. He thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his contribution to the strengthening of Tajikistan-Azerbaijan bilateral bonds, which are based on common historical and spiritual values, and relations between the two countries` peoples, who are bound together by ties of friendship and brotherhood. Noting that he previously paid an official visit to Azerbaijan, Shukurjon Zuhurov expressed his satisfaction with the participation in the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum initiated by the President of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views over the issues related to the further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries on various fronts, including in the economic sphere.
The head of state thanked for the greetings of President Emomali Rahmon, and asked the chairman to extend his greetings to the Tajikistani President.
