Baku, April 6, AZERTAC

Italy coach Mauro Berruto has named his provisional men's Volleyball squad for Baku 2015.

Mr. Berruto announced a list of 22 players for Italy’s men's Volleyball team at the Baku 2015 European Games. At the same time, he named a 25-man provisional team for the World League competition, which will overlap with Baku 2015.

Six players - Elia Bossi, Iacopo Botto, Jacopo Massari, Gabriele Nelli, Giacomo Raffaelli and Luigi Randazzo - were listed on both squads.

Two of Italy's top players - Simone Parodi and Osmany Juantorena - were not included as they are still playing with their clubs. It is unclear at which competition Parodi and Juantoena will play this summer.

"The decisions were taken keeping in mind the availability and the desire of each athlete to play for the national team," Mr. Berruto said at the announcements.

He added that both teams would emphasise the same ideals during preparation: "At the center of our work there will be not only philosophy and theory but a precise technical discourse, a clear way of playing."

Mr. Berruto said that with the overlap of the European Games and the World League he wanted to limit the number of players on both lists.

Still he added: "I want to make it clear that we will all work together, having in mind the challenges ahead for each individual player."
