Putin calls Erdogan, express condolences for victims of coup attempt

Russia's President Vladimir Putin called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the phone on Sunday, expressing condolences for the victims of failed coup attempt and wishing restoration of order and stability in Turkey, according to Daily Sabah.

Putin described the attempted coup as unacceptable and voiced his hope for a speedy return to stability, the Kremlin said in a statement.

Putin stressed the "categorical unacceptability in the life of a state of anti-constitutional acts and violence."

The two leaders also reiterated their agreement to meet in the first week of August.
