Round table on fight against human trafficking held in Baku

A round table on the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings has been held in Baku.
Co-organized by the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, the event brought together 21 plenipotentiary representatives for combating trafficking in human beings, government officials and civil society representatives.
In his remarks, chief of the Main Department on Combating Human Trafficking at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sharif Asadullayev called trafficking in human beings “one of the most challenging problems of our time”. He highlighted the Azerbaijani government`s measures to combat human trafficking.
Head of Human Trafficking Department at the Council of Europe Ita Marinashvili said the Council of Europe supports the Azerbaijani government in fighting against human trafficking.
Marinashvili said the execution of proposals on the report of the Council of Europe's Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) will improve the implementation of the convention.
