SOCAR president speaks at session of Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit

As earlier reported, on 20-21 November the Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit took place in Istanbul. The event entitled “Energy and Economy” was attended by US Vice President Joe Biden and Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu. SOCAR’s President Rovnag Abdullayev spoke at the conference “Energy security in the 21st century and its most important sources,” the press service of SOCAR said.
The forum participants discussed the issues of security of energy sources and energy infrastructure, analyzed the impact of geopolitical factors on the production and transportation of oil and gas, the need to protect them from terrorist threats, local conflicts, development of joint action by the international community to ensure the smooth operation of energy infrastructure.
SOCAR’s president spoke about the current energy projects initiated by Azerbaijan in the last two decades and gave an overview of the new projects, such as the Southern Gas Corridor, which will transport 16 bcm of Caspian natural gas from the Azerbaijani field of Shah Deniz to the European markets.
