Today, oil and oil products of Azerbaijan are exported to nearly 30 countries and 25-30 percent share of the oil in the energy balance of some European countries regarded as a high indicator. This shows that, independent energy policy of the country plays an important role in becoming an important regional and global factor of Azerbaijan, said energy minister Natig Aliyev.
He said that, within "South" gas corridor which will transport Azerbaijani gas to world markets, important works are being done on developing of "Shah Deniz" gas-condensate field, expansion of South Caucasus pipeline, implementation of Trans-Anadolu (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) projects.
TANAP and TAP projects will bring gas from a new source including a new route also to Europe. The implementation of these projects in the future not only will ensure energy security of Europe, also create favorable conditions for competitive environment on European gas market prices as a result of diversification of sources. At the same time, TANAP project will also open up new opportunities for implementation of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.
“If Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will join the project in the future, Azerbaijan will also become a transit country on delivering Central Asian gas to Europe, using its infrastructure and technical capabilities,” the Minister stressed.
