Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has received heads of the delegations who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in a session of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
Azerbaijani first Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov also attended the meeting.
President Emomali Rahmon stressed the importance of deepening relations within the CIS countries, adding development of cooperation within the CIS depends on political dialogue between these countries.
The head of state drew the participants' attention to negative impacts of the global economic and financial crisis effects, saying CIS member nations should unite more closely to jointly solve the problems in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.
President Emomali Rahmon also touched upon the latest developments in northern Afghanistan and their supposed impacts on the Central Asian region and the CIS southern borders.
