“Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline - TANAP is a project that will be more remembered in the future. Turkey takes advantage of the favorable geographical position in this Project. TANAP is a very important project for the region, but also related to energy resources”, Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Turkey Taner Yıldız said in an interview with TRT Haber TV channel. He also stressed that, Turkey will be an important part of natural gas reserves in the Caspian region with TANAP Project. TANAP also has an impact on international relations.
TANAP envisages the transportation of gas of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey. TANAP’s initial capacity is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
