Baku, September 30, AZERTAC
The Manila Times, an English-language newspaper in the Philippines, has published an article on a “Year of Multiculturalism” in Azerbaijan.
The article reads: “Early this year, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev declared the year 2016 as “Year of Multiculturalism” in Azerbaijan. In this light, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced an international photo and article contest dedicated to the Baku Process themed “Baku Process—contribution to the Global Multiculturalism”.
The Baku Process was launched in 2008 at the Conference of Ministers responsible for Culture held in Baku. It promotes dialogue between cultures and serves as a platform that enables and encourages the global community to commit to concrete actions to support diversity, dialogue and mutual understanding by raising awareness of the importance of intercultural dialogue worldwide.
The Baku Process also highlights the vital role of cultural policy and action in promoting understanding among different regions and cultures. Thus, the attempt to involve the international community in their thrust toward multiculturalism, Azerbaijan serves as a model for both the Europe and Asian nations—as the nation sits between the two continents—in tolerance and respect of cultural differences.”
