Istanbul, September 11, AZERTAC

“Turkey will not recognize the results of the so-called municipal elections that will be held in Azerbaijan`s Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is under occupation of Armenia,” Turkey`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said in a statement.

“As the so-called parliamentary elections held in the Nagorno-Karabakh region on May 3, 2015, the forthcoming so-called municipal elections are also in breach of international law, resolutions of the UN Security Council and OSCE principles. Such events harm the efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”

The statement says Turkey condemns the so-called elections, calling them “another violation of Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and territorial integrity”. “These so-called elections are illegal and their results will not be recognized by Turkey,” the statement concludes.
