Baku, October 10, AZERTAC
The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan has issued a statement in support of the establishment of the National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development.
The statement says: “The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan welcomes the Presidential Decree on establishment of the National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development.
We are encouraged to see that the Government is creating the National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development, as a commitment to working towards the effective implementation of the global goals.
The United Nations System in Azerbaijan is ready to support the Council in its aim to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and looks forward to an inclusive process that includes the civil society and other segments of the Azerbaijani society.
Azerbaijan, along with 193 United Nations Member States, endorsed the 2030 Agenda at the UN Summit in September 2015, committing itself to taking the bold and transformative steps, which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path, and, while embarking on this collective journey, pledging that no one will be left behind.”
