US Congress hosts briefing on “New Silk Road”

The US Congress hosted a briefing on the theme “New Silk Road" connecting East Asia and Western Europe: Opportunities and global impacts”, organized by the embassies of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey in United States, on April 29.
Representatives from government agencies of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey attended the event, moderated by the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce.
In addition with the discussions of strategic importance and competitiveness of Trans-Caspian East-West Trade and Transit Corridor, the briefing participants were informed about infrastructure projects carried out by Azerbaijan and other countries, as well trade and transit opportunities.
As earlier reported, on April 28, Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC, hosted a Forum on Trans-Caspian East-West Trade and Transit Corridor. The forum discussions and Azerbaijan’s regional co-operation with Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey aroused great interest among the participants. In particular, an article by Ambassador Elin Suleymanov entitled “Tracing modern Silk Road” was published in "The Washington Times" newspaper.
Being a part of the Forum, the briefing aroused great interest and was attended by about 50 delegates, including the aides of Congressmen, representatives of US federal government agencies, academicians, as well as a number of experts.
