Ukraine's Independence Day marked in Baku

Independence Day of Ukraine was marked in Baku on October 4 at a solemn ceremony organized by the country’s Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko spoke of the history of Independence Day. Noting quick development of bilateral relations between the two counties, the diplomat in particular stressed the role of the heads of state in this. Touching upon the unsolved conflicts, the Ambassador said in current situation the status-quo was unacceptable. He urged the world community to promote solution of the protracted conflicts.

Azad Rahimov, Azerbaijan’s minister of youth and sports congratulated the people of Ukraine on behalf of the Azerbaijani government, conveyed wishes of prosperity and welfare. He underlined national leader Heydar Aliyev’s huge contribution to establishment of relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

The event bought together officials, MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in Azerbaijan, public figures and media representatives.
