Vladimir Putin slams Russian TV channels for “not paying sufficient” attention to 1st European Games VIDEO
Baku, June 3, AZERTAC
Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized national TV channels for insufficient coverage of major sports events, especially the first European Games, according to RIA Novosti.
“How can this happen? President of the Olympic Committee Aleksandr Zhukov has just now informed me that our media outlets, none of the TV channels want to highlight the first European Games in Baku,” President Putin told a meeting addressing the issues of physical training and sports in Russia.
“None of the channels? Is this possible? This is a world class competition. I understand that there are some restrictions with the budget. But there are important issues. This is a remarkable event that will take its place in the world sports history. This is the first European Games that is equal to Olympic Games.”
