We can be proud of development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, Valentina Matviyenko

“The development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations is a result of hard work and we may be proud of that,” said chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko as she met with Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov on the sidelines of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly spring session in Saint Petersburg.
Matviyenko spoke of the economic, cultural, humanitarian relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. She hailed the importance of the annual Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
Speaker Asadov said that a solid legal basis existing between the two countries contributes to the development of relations in all areas, including trade, economy, agriculture, energy and culture. He said the two countries have signed more than 200 documents covering different areas.
Asadov highlighted the Azerbaijani government`s attention to Russian language, saying there are more than 340 Russian language schools in the country.
They exchanged views over the prospects for interparliamentary relations between the two countries.
