Baku, June 4, AZERTAC
Istvan Vereb has been named Hungary's Baku 2015 flagbearer, and will lead the country's 200-member squad at the inaugural European Games. The 27-year-old wrestler previously competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and won bronze at the 2013 European Championships.
Vereb spoke of his pride at being chosen by Hungary's National Olympic Committee, stating: "It is an honour to be the flagbearer at a major sporting event.
"This occasion does not happen more than once in an athlete's life. It is a great gift. I would like to repay it in Baku with a medal."
The Hungarian team's largest contingent comes in Water Polo, with 26 players named. The squad also includes 22 wrestlers, 20 Canoe Sprint paddlers and 17 judokas and fencers.
