Yuri Vorobyov to head CIS IPA group of observers at Belarus' presidential election

Yuri Vorobyov has been appointed coordinator of the CIS IPA group of observers at the forthcoming presidential election in Belarus, according to the official website of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
In line with the invitation of Speaker of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko to take part in the international monitoring of the presidential election in Belarus the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly launched the formation of the relevant group of observers. According to the instruction of Chairperson of the CIS IPA Council Valentina Matviyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Yuri Vorobyov was appointed coordinator of the group following as proposed by the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Yuri Vorobyov is a PhD in Political Science, representative of the legislative body of Vologda Oblast. In the Council of the Federation he supervises the organization of the Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, takes part in the work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia as well as in the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Federation and the Council of the Republic on interregional cooperation.
The CIS IPA group of observers (as part of the CIS observation mission) will monitor the presidential election in Belarus scheduled for 11 October 2015.
