AT CENTRAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION
On July 14, a regular sitting of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) chaired by Mazahir Panahov was held. First Mazahir Panahov informed on a sample of certificate of the registered candidates to the President in connection with forthcoming elections on October 15, 2003. After discussion, this document was adopted taking into account certain proposals. Then the adoption of lists of the nominated persons to members of the district election commission, representing political parties, was discussed. CEC unanimously decided to adopt these lists. The CEC confirmed the candidacy of Mr. Huseyn Shadman Bahlul oglu nominated by initiative group of electors “Vatan” to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and declined the candidacy of Tukanov Musa Davud oglu, due to the variance of his documents with CEC requirements. Representatives of the International Fund for Election Systems (IFES), embassies of Japan, Turkey and Israel as well as foreign and local mess media attended the sitting.
