AZAL`s newly purchased AIRBUS A340-500 conducts first flight to Nakhchivan
Baku, May 8 (AZERTAC). New Airbus A340-500 plane of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has conducted its first flight to Nakhchivan on the eve of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s 90th anniversary.
The 237-seat craft landed at the Nakhchivan International Airport, with AZAL President Jahangir Asgarov among passengers onboard. The passengers of the first flight were welcomed by leadership of the Autonomous Republic. They put flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, viewed the Airbus-A340-500.
The aircraft combines performance, comfort and capacity for highly efficient ultra long-haul operations. In a typical three-class cabin arrangement, this version of Airbus` four-engine A340 Family seats a maximum of 313 passengers, and its cabin flexibility enables seat pitch to be adapted in units of one inch - while galleys, lavatories and stowage can be located in different numbers, groupings and locations.
With a range of up to 9,000 nautical miles, the A340-500 is operating on some of the world`s longest non-stop routes, including direct Singapore-Los Angeles flights with durations of nearly 19 hours.
