Azerbaijan and EU launch talks on Agreement on Common Aviation Area
Baku, January 24 (AZERTAC). The first round of negotiations between the European Union and Azerbaijan on a common aviation area has today started in Baku.
The talks were attended by top officials of Azerbaijan`s State Civil Aviation Administration and representatives of the Foreign Ministry.
"The negotiations between the EU and Azerbaijan over the aviation agreement are an important step not only for the strengthening of bilateral relations, but also for the political, economic, trade, and human relations. According to research of prospects, within the first five years of the signing, the additional passengers who will make visits between Azerbaijan and the European Union could reach 860,000, as a result of which the agreement will create economic benefits.
We must not lose this particular opportunity. The EU has signed such an agreement with a number of countries in the region. I hope that Azerbaijan will show at the negotiating table a similar political will," said head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Roland Kobia.
