Azerbaijan, Japan discuss expansion of ICT cooperation
Baku, April 28 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and Japan have explored ways of improving cooperation in the ICT sector as minister of communications and high technologies Ali Abbasov met a Japanese delegation led by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Takao Makino.
Minister Abbasov recalled Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s last visit to Japan, saying it gave strong impulse to the development of bilateral relations.
The Minister also touched upon the Azerbaijani ICT delegation’s visit to Japan last December, hailing bilateral meetings at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Mitsubishi and TEPIA corporations.
He said ICT was among key priority areas in Azerbaijan`s strategy of diversifying its economy. Abbasov highlighted the measures taken by the Azerbaijani government to ensure liberal market economy, attractive and free business environment, and strength the opportunities for attracting foreign investors.
The Minister said Azerbaijan paid special attention to cooperation with Japan in the field of space technology, nano-technology and micro-electronics.
Makino noted the significance of reciprocal visits in terms of furthering the bilateral relations. He said the visit by the Azerbaijani delegation to Japan played an important role in elevating the two countries` cooperation in the ICT sphere to a new level. Makino praised the interest of Azerbaijani companies in developing high technologies.
He also hailed participation of Japanese companies in the ICT and high technology projects Azerbaijan was realizing.
