Azerbaijan, US discuss bilateral relations
Baku, January 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and the US have explored ways of developing relations as country`s ambassador Elin Suleymanov has delivered a report on bilateral ties between the two countries at the International Club of Annapolis, Maryland.
Touching upon the Statehood traditions, the ambassador highlighted the activity of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, adding Azerbaijan was the first Parliamentary Republic country in the Muslim East which granted the right to vote to women.
On strengthening of the country`s image in the international arena over the 21 years, Mr. Suleymanov said that the election of Azerbaijan as non-permanent member to UN Security Council was vivid evidence to this.
On energy diplomacy of Azerbaijan, he noted that State officials Azerbaijan is a reliable partner in execution of international obligations and also provided information about regional energy projects including TANAP.
The ambassador hailed Azerbaijan`s foreign policy, which founded by Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continuing by President Ilham Aliyev.
He said that the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was a main hindrance to the regional integration and spoke about the implications of this conflict and measures taken by the Azerbaijani government to eliminate them.
“Azerbaijan was the favourable platform for inter-cultural and inter-religious and the historical friendship relations and tolerances, which were formed among the representatives of numerous national minorities was a proud sides of our people,” he also added.
