Challenges of contemporary Eastern Partnership photography to be discussed at international conference in Minsk
Baku, March 6 (AZERTAC). On 21-22 March 2013, Institute of Journalism of the Belarusian State University will host an international conference Photography in Eastern Partnership countries: challenges and solutions.
The conference will take place within the EU project “SAY CHEESE! EASTERN PARTNERSHIP FAMILY ALBUM. Capacity building, networking and promotion of thematic Eastern Partnership photography”.
The list of invited participants includes Ministries of Culture, state and private educational institutions, photo businesses from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan, Delegation of the European Union to Belarus, Regional Monitoring and Capacity Building Unit (RMCBU) of the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme, as well as the Federation of European Photographers.
The conference will feature presentations on the history, distinctive features, challenges and prospects for the development of photography and national photo market in Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan. On March 22, participants of the conference will have an opportunity to take part in round table discussions on such topics as photography education in Eastern Partnership countries, stock photography as the means of legal income, legal aspects of photographers` activities in Eastern Partnership countries, possibilities for promotion of national photography in Eastern Partnership region and beyond it, as well as prospects for cooperation with other countries and with the Federation of European Photographers.
A photo exhibition “Document and image: When photo journalism becomes art…” will be officially opened as part of the conference. The exhibition will feature works by Belarusian photo journalists, as well as associations of photographers from other Eastern Partnership countries.
