German 3SAT TV channel broadcasts documentary on Azerbaijan
Berlin, October 1 (AZERTAC). The German TV channel “3SAT” has broadcasted a documentary on Azerbaijan, as part of circle of documentaries dedicated to Silk Road countries.
Peter Gysling, the author of the project, which covers modern state and cultural-historic heritage of the Silk Road countries, has briefly characterized Azerbaijan: “The country of variegated carpets, medicinal oil baths, huge reserves of raw materials, IDPs and interesting love legends”.
The travel to Azerbaijan starts from historic city Shaki. The author gives information about the historic monuments of Shaki, which is located on the Great Silk Road, and on the carpet tradition of the country. Visiting the silk factory, Gysling notes that the factory was one of the huge producers of the silk during the Soviet period. Now the factory has 900 weavers, who still save the tradition of the carpet weaving.
The author also speaks on the life mode of the population, and shows the process of cooking of “tandir” bread.
The film crew then arrived in Naftalan. This part features famous medical complexes of this place. Chief physician of the Naftalan health-improving center Gultakin Suleymanova informs Gysling about the historic Naftalan oil, whose medicinal properties were famous in ancient times.
The author says the Naftalan oil cures rheumatism, arthritis and psoriasis.
The viewers could observe the process of treatment and to hear opinions of foreigners.
Then, the crew headed to Baku. The author hails rapid development of Baku. During the meeting with Gysling, vice-president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Elshad Nasirov said the occupation of 20% territories of Azerbaijan, presence of more than a million refugees and IDPs impede the development of the country.
The documentary also demonstrates the tourism places of Baku, including Icharishahar.
