GUAM PA`s 5th session wraps up in Baku
Baku, December 21 (AZERTAC). The 5th session of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly has ended in Azerbaijan Parliament.
Addressing the closing ceremony, chairman of GUAM PA, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the organization Elton Mammadov provided information on works done and decisions adopted on discussed issues. He noted that the decisions will serve boosting of future activity and strengthening of international cooperation of the organization.
Mr. Mammadov also briefed on a document, adopted on GUAM PA`s 5th session`s results.
The document praised the activity of the organization highly appreciating the strengthening of cooperation with the Baltic Assembly, Benelux Parliament and other international and regional bodies.
The document also criticizes lack of progress towards conflict-resolution in the region. These conflicts are dangerous not only for GUAM members, but also entire Europe.
GUAM PA hailed Azerbaijanis’ contribution to European energy security.
Georgia will host the 6th session of GUAM PA in next fall.
Then, head of the Georgian parliamentary delegation in GUAM PA Zurab Abashidze addressed the event expressing gratitude to the Milli Majlis for the excellent organization of the event.
Mr. Abashidze said that a two-day session featured discussions of the issues on the agenda and efficient exchange of views with representatives of international organizations.
Zurab Abashidze spoke of future plans as Georgia will chair the organization in 2013.
