Istanbul hosts Caspian forum on energy and security
Istanbul, December 7 (AZERTAC). Politicians and energy experts are discussing energy and security issues at a Caspian forum which kicked off in Istanbul, Turkey.
The forum is organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT) and the US Brookings Institution.
Secretary General of the Turkish Cooperation Council Haldun Yavas stressed the importance of the forum.
Other speakers, including Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, Former US secretary of defense Robert Gates and Turkish deputy foreign minister Naci Koru emphasized the significance of peace and stability in the Caspian region.
They also noted Azerbaijan played an important role in the world and European energy security.
The forum also saw discussions on various topics, including “The place of Caspian Sea energy resources in European energy security”, “Caspian Basin and rebuilding of the Silk Road, sustainable development and diversification” and “Renewal of peace and stability in Eurasia: prospects and tasks”.
