Mariah Carey to close out 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Baku, May 6, AZERTAC

Baku City Circuit today announced that Mariah Carey, the best-selling female artist of all time, will perform on BCC’S Main Stage on Sunday, 25th June to close out the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

On the heels of a sell-out Las Vegas residency and one of the most exciting years of her extraordinary career, the global superstar will be taking F1 fans on a thrilling journey as she performs her biggest, career-defining hits right after the last car has roared across the Finish Line in Baku. Drawing on a back catalogue of over 18 No. 1 singles, Mariah will be performing her biggest hits, including the timeless ‘Hero’, ‘Fantasy’, ‘Always Be My Baby’, the global smash hit ‘We Belong Together’ and many, many more.

Mariah Carey is a music icon, a soul legend, a pop phenomenon, a breathtaking live artist and planet Earth’s best-selling female artist of all time. She has sold over 220 million records and 17 of her 18 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles have been self-penned, including 'Fantasy', 'Always Be My Baby', 'Hero', 'Touch My Body', 'One Sweet Day', and 'We Belong Together', more than any other solo artist.

With her distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting, and producing talent, Mariah has defined the modern pop artist. As a singer/songwriter/producer, amongst her countless awards, she has been recognized with multiple Grammy Awards, 21 American Music Awards, Billboard's “Artist of the Decade” Award, the World Music Award for “World's Best Selling Female Artist Of The Millennium,” and BMI's “Icon Award” for her outstanding achievements in songwriting.

She has topped the charts globally and has played to packed audiences in stadiums and arenas around the world. Her combination of stellar talents has inspired her dedicated fans in almost every country and set new standards for excellence in the music industry.

Mariah Carey's ongoing impact transcends the music industry to leave an indelible imprint upon the world at large. She has made substantial marks in film with critically acclaimed roles in Precious (2009), Lee Daniel’s The Butler (2013) and most recently Mariah made her directorial debut in A Christmas Melody, a special festive feature for Hallmark, in which she also stars.

A Congressional Award recipient, Mariah has generously donated her time and energy to a range of philanthropic causes near to her heart including Save the Music, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, World Hunger Relief and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, among many others. A tremendous supporter of children’s charities, both domestic and international, Mariah founded Camp Mariah in partnership with the Fresh Air Fund, a retreat for inner city children to explore career development.

BCC’s Executive Director, Arif Rahimov, was thrilled to confirm the final and biggest music act to perform live at the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix: “We are incredibly proud to welcome the most successful female music star in history to Baku to close out our second successive Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. Mariah Carey is the iconic voice of a generation whose songs are known intimately by millions of people across the world. To hear her perform her incredible range of hits here in Baku will be a true privilege and the perfect finale to what is shaping up to be the biggest and best F1 race weekend of the season. We are ready to celebrate with the whole world and are inviting you to come join us this summer in Baku!”

The second successive Formula 1 race to be staged on the streets of Azerbaijan’s capital city is scheduled to take place on the weekend of 23rd -25th June, 2017.

All ticket holders will have free access to the concert. Fans with four-day tickets will additionally be able to enjoy an exclusive Pit Lane Walk on Thursday 22nd June, while all ticket holders will get access to the drivers via daily Autograph Sessions and will also be entertained throughout the weekend via a series of entertainment activities located along the circuit’s vending zones situated along Baku’s stunning seaside boulevard.

A variety of tickets options are still on sale for the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as well as special ‘Junior’ tickets for children aged 2-16

With only 2 months to go until the world’s greatest race cars once again speed through the streets of this stunning city, the message from Baku City Circuit to the world’s F1 audience is very simple: get your tickets while you still can and join us in Baku in 2017.
