President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the overhauled Tagiyev-Sahil highway

Neftchala, May 29 (AZERTAC). Upon completion of his visit to Neftchala District, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the overhauled Tagiyev-Sahil highway.

On the instruction of the head of state, projects on the socioeconomic development of Baku and suburban settlements are being consistently carried out. Based on the "State program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and its suburban settlements in 2014-2016", which was approved by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, the reconstruction of road infrastructure and the overhaul and restoration of roads inside and between settlements in accordance with the highest standards, as well as the building of modern roads that meet modern requirements are being consistently carried out. The construction of the most modern roads, junctions, bridges, tunnels, underground and overland pedestrian crossings in surrounding towns will facilitate traffic and serve to ensure comfort for the population. The project for the reconstruction of the Tagiyev-Sahil highway is very important in terms of the socioeconomic development of Baku and surrounding settlements.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the work carried out on the basis of the project to reconstruct the Tagiyev-Sahil highway. It was noted that the construction of the road with a total length of 42 km was funded under an agreement signed between the government of Azerbaijan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the technical parameters of the road. It was noted that together with its junctions, the road with a width of 15 meters is 48 km long. High-quality building materials were used for the construction of the road. Under the project, the construction of 11 new bridges, 45 aqueducts and 4 passages was completed.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev came to the settlement of Bilajari in order to familiarize himself with projects for the reconstruction of the Sulutapa-Bilajari (9-10 km) section of the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh road, the widening of the 6-9-km section of the Baku-Guba-Russian Federation highway, the construction of new bridges and the reconstruction of existing bridges and the connection of the road of the Baku Skeet Shooting Sports Complex and the Baku ring road.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov first informed the head of state about the project for the reconstruction of the Sulutapa-Bilajari section of the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh road. It was noted that the 1.5km road will have eight lanes. Preparatory measures are being taken to carry out asphalt and concrete work.After the implementation of the project, vehicles traveling from the northwestern region of the republic to Baku, as well as in the Khojasan-Lokhbatan direction will have easier access to the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh and Baku-Guba-Russian border roads.

After that, the head of state was informed about work carried out within the framework of the project for the widening of the 6-9km section of the Baku-Guba-Russian border highway, the construction of new bridges and the reconstruction of existing bridges.

It was noted that the project envisages the building of two new bridges, the overhaul of three existing bridges and the widening of a 2km section of the road. The construction of new bridges ensuring traffic between Baku and Guba has been completed. The bridges have been built with the most modern standards.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the technical characteristics of existing bridges and the road that will be reconstructed. It was noted that the issue of moving all communication lines, as well as residential and non-residential buildings located along the ​​road is being addressed.

Upon completion of the project, conditions will be created for normal traffic between the northern and northwestern parts of the country and the city of Baku.

After that, information was provided about the project for connecting the road of the Baku Skeet Shooting Sports Complex and the Baku ring road. It was noted that the 1.4km-long road of the Baku Skeet Shooting Sports Complex and the 1km-long road connecting to the Baku ring road will be built to the highest standards. It is also planned to build a new bridge with a width of 9 meters and a length of 230 meters on the road connecting to the Baku ring road.

After reviewing the projects, the head of state gave relevant instructions.
