PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES DELEGATION OF THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAM LED BY ITS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JAMES MORRIS
The President said Azerbaijan is now experiencing rapid development in both political and economic field. He added, however, that the country continues facing its main problem, the Armenian military aggression led to creation of more than one million refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP).
The Azeri leader said the Government has been taking steady measures to better the lives of the refugees and IDPs, adding all the tent camps will be removed very soon as not wanted.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked the UN World Food Program for continuation of providing aid to refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan, and expressed hope for further enhancement of the country’s cooperation with the organization.
Mr. James Morris described the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and WFP as very fruitful. He informed the President that during this visit he had met with local refugees and IDPs, and been impressed by the results of what the government and, personally, the President of Azerbaijan have done to improve their living conditions.
The WFP’s Executive Director expressed confidence in further expansion of Azerbaijan’s relations with his organizations.
