PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV CHAIRS A MEETING DEDICATED TO ISSUES OF POWER AND GAS SUPPLY OF THE INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES AND POPULATION IN WINTER SEASON
In his opening address, President Ilham Aliyev outlined the situation in the power field, expressing concern with insufficient power and gas supply in the country.
President Aliyev dwelt on the measures to be taken to tackle the problem. As known, modular power stations have been built and some 50 such stations are to be installed in the country, the president said. These stations will produce 500 mwt extra energy. And gas production is to be increased. The State Oil Company, Shahdeniz deposit will give additional gas. However, the more production the more demand. So, the fuel-energy balance should be re-considered, the President underlined.
Then, President Aliyev touched the question of gas exchange with Iran, noting that the demand for gas should further increase. President of Azerbaijan reminded the regions not gasified at all, in particular, the southern regions of Lerik and Yardimli, noting that the problem should be solved in complex.
Gasification of the Baku settlements was also in focus of the head of state. The President suggested for full gasification of the capital. In the winter months, gas supply should be better, he stressed. And gave certain instructions to the relevant state bodies and departments.
