On October 3, President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev received the delegation headed by Mr. Mogens C. Bay, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the VALMONT Industries Company, U.S.

Noting that he is aware of the agricultural achievements of this Company, President of Azerbaijan appreciated keenness of the guests in implementation of new projects in Azerbaijan. Agriculture has great prospects in Azerbaijan, President Aliyev said, stressing that we attach great importance to this field of economy. After the oil-gas fields, the agriculture is also our priority, he underlined. We grant to farmers credits and do a lot to provide them with agricultural machines. I am convinced that Azerbaijan will achieve more in the coming years, and I hope for your active participation in this process, President Ilham Aliyev underlined.

Mr. Mogens said the Company he supervises functions for 60 years in the field of agriculture and is enough experienced. Today, one of the global problems is pure drinking water. In the coming 30-50 years, the need for food will rise twice and without efficient activity it is impossible to provide it. It is one of our activities. We intensively work for increasing of pure drinking water, for provision of the growth of agricultural goods. And our Company functions in more than 100 world countries, the guest said.

Underlining that water reserve is one of the important problems President Ilham Aliyev said we have notable plans to improve the use of the water reserves in agriculture in Azerbaijan and also provision of the population with sufficient drinking water. We are going to realize projects connected to both drinking water and for irrigation, he emphasized.

Mr. Mogens C. Bay informed that the Company together with the local firms is working on a project connected to cotton and production of sugar beet in Azerbaijan. The first pilot project will recently be realized and it will be good basis to start working in Azerbaijan, he stressed.
