PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES DELEGATION HEADED BY SIR MENZIES CAMPBELL, DEPUTY LEADER OF LIBERAL DEMOCRATS OF THE GREAT BRITAIN, FOREIGN MINISTER IN THE SHADOW CABINET
Sir Menzies Campbell, Deputy Leader of Liberal Democrats of the Great Britain, foreign minister in the Shadow Cabinet, vice-chairman of Executive Board of the John Smith Memorial Fund.
Addressing the guest, the President of Azerbaijan said this visit would promote him to closely watch the ongoing processes in the country, and it is also necessary from the bilateral relations. The links between Azerbaijan and the Great Britain have old history and currently the countries cooperate effectively, he underlined. The British companies are the most active and most investing in the country. One of the important facts is that the countries’ cooperation is not only in the oil-gas sphere, but also in the education and other fields.
Expressing gratitude to the head of Azerbaijan state for warm reception, Sir Menzies Campbell said it was his first visit to Azerbaijan and that the John Smith Memorial Fund had been founded in memory of John Smith who led the Labor Party before Tony Blair. The Fund’s mission is to contribute cooperation between the countries, as well as to invite the youth from numerous countries for familiarization with the Great Britain.
