On October 3, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received representatives of the Jewish community on the Jewish New Year - Roshashana.

Having congratulated representatives of the Jewish community with the holiday, the head of the Azerbaijan state has wished them and their families, all Jewish community of Azerbaijan well being and health.

Having dwelt on development of the country, political and economic processes, President Ilham Aliyev has noted that representatives of various peoples professing numerous religions, live in Azerbaijan in conditions of peace and calmness.

President of Azerbaijan, in particular, said:

“Certainly, the peace among all peoples living in Azerbaijan is the main achievement. It is very pleasant that these friendly, brotherly relations every year become stronger, and all this goes for the blessing of our country. In the countries, where there is no national consent, there are problems, and there are difficulties, misunderstanding. And in the countries where there is national consent, there the peace, well being and solidarity dominate. All of us want the blessing for our country, all of us are citizens of Azerbaijan and we love Motherland. This condition of relationship in Azerbaijan is very important.

The Jewish community in Azerbaijan has ancient history, and it has kept the unique originality, culture, national customs and traditions and very actively integrated into the society.

Chairman of the Jewish community of the Mountainous Jews of Azerbaijan Semyon Ikhiilov expressed gratitude for the conditions created in the country for Jews, has told about the work done to achieve progress last years, especially has emphasized value of decrees and the orders of the President directed on increase of well-being of citizens of Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev has reminded that along with schools in all regions of the country the hospitals equipped with the advanced medical equipment will be constructed.

Chairman of the religious community of the European Jews of Azerbaijan Gennady Zelmanovich has noted the attention given to development of the Jewish culture.

Having touched the Azerbaijan-Israeli ties, President Ilham Aliyev has noted successful development of relations between two countries and stressed Heydar Aliyev’s role in all these. Really, he has played unique role in the history of Azerbaijan, the guests underlined.

Having reminded about the first years of country’s independence, the head of state on the concrete facts has proved the indifference shown by persons, who were at that time in power, to destiny of the country and people. At the same time, he has noted that Azerbaijan which from the point of view of religious tolerance always differed in the best side, should be the exemplary country in sense of development of tolerance.
