SOCAR, Statoil discuss prospects for expansion of cooperation
Baku, July 10 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan`s State Oil Company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev has met Statoil Senior Vice President for Eurasia Torgeir Kydland.
Mr. Abdullayev hailed long-lasting cooperation between SOCAR and Statoil, saying “important successes have been achieved under the “Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli” and “Shahdeniz” projects with participation of Statoil”.
Mr. Kydland congratulated the SOCAR president on Azerbaijan`s decision to transport its gas to Europe, adding “the choice was successful and the TAP will make huge contribution to supplying European consumers with natural gas”.
He also thanked SOCAR for supporting Statoil`s activities in Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the TAP pipeline, Abdullayev said “the choice once again demonstrated to the world Azerbaijan`s loyalty to the Southern Energy Corridor”.
He expressed confidence the TAP will open new opportunities for increasing Azerbaijan`s role in strengthening European energy security. “The reliable partnership between the two companies paves the way for rapid development of joint activity not only under “Shahdeniz” and other projects, but also in “Zafar-Mashal” structure,” he added.
