TO SOLVE PROBLEMS OF REFUGEES TOGETHER
Roundtable “Legal status of refugees and its realization in the work of state bodies”, organized by UNHCR Office in Ukraine and Institute of Applied and Humanitarian Researches with participation of state bodies and public organizations was held in Kharkov, Ukraine. As AzerTAj correspondent was informed, Chairman of Kharkov regional society of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian friendship “Dostlug” Murad Omarov, in his speech, dwelled on the history of origin of the first refugees in the territory of former USSR, first victims of terrorist acts, conducted by the Armenian bandit groups. Participants of the roundtable were distributed press releases of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine, telling of the occupation by Armenia 20 % of the Azerbaijani territory, one million refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan. In his speech, Murad Omarov stressed that Azerbaijani refugees living in Ukraine do not demand any privileges. Their only request is assistance in legalization, permission to the temporary residence in Ukraine. Azerbaijani refugees are ready to return home after occupied Azerbaijani territories are freed.M. Omarov also informed that in the conversation with him, the UNHCR Deputy Representative in Ukraine Hans Schodder and President of the Institute of Applied and Humanitarian Researches Mikhail Buromenskiy expressed their wish to discuss separately the problem of Azerbaijani refugees.
