TURKEY-UKRAINE: COMMODITY TURNOVER CURVE TENDS UPWARDS
Creating a ferry bridge in the Turkish port of Derince will allow to considerably increase the efficiency of the regular communication between Ukraine and Turkey. This issue parallel with a number of other ones, according to AzerTac correspondent for Ukraine, was discussed during the visit by the working group of the Government of Istanbul province led by vice-Governor Jumhur Giuven Tashbashi to the Ukrainian city of Odessa. The leaders of the large Turkish chemical company ‘Koruma’ also have shown their interest in the urgent building of the ferry bridge. Due to the increase in flow of traffic, the transport tariffs for a number of goods are planned to be reduced that will create extra possibilities for not only Ukrainian and Turkish cargo owners but also those from CIS countries including Azerbaijan.
The Republic of Turkey is known as the Ukraine’s largest trade partner: commodity turnover between the countries yearly increase by 15-20 per cent. This year it may exceed 1,5 billion U.S. dollars.
