Khankendi, September 11, AZERTAC
“We are about to pass through the Western Gate and we will enter the Ganja City of Azerbaijan. And all these developments have just happened in a matter of six years. And it requires a lot of efforts by the Azerbaijani Government, by the Azerbaijani people, but you can witness by our full dedication. It is not an easy task, but we started not from the zero, we started from the minus five. And this area still suffers from the contamination of the landmines. It is also a gigantic challenge in front of us,” said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, as he addressed the representatives of diplomatic corps at the Khankendi Cultural Center.
Noting that yesterday there was a yet another landmine incident, Hikmet Hajiyev said: “On our way to the Khankendi, we have also received information that another mine incident happened and one civilian was injured. Therefore, it impedes our reconstruction and rebuilding efforts. But it cannot undermine our determination, our resolve to ensure soonest reconstruction and rebuilding, as well as dignified and safe return of our former IDPs,” Hajiyev added.
