Next qualification match of the 2004 European Championship on football was held in the Baku stadium “Shafa” between national teams of Azerbaijan and Finland on September 6.

These teams play in the ninth qualification group and have already held six matches. First match between these two teams ended with the defeat of Azerbaijani soccer - 0:3. Before the present match, Azerbaijani national team with 4 points held fifth place in the tournament list, while the guests were the fourth.

After the interval, the guests opened the score. Another attack of the Finnish team ended with the goal. Shortly before the end of the match full-back of Finnish team played roughly against Azerbaijani forward near the penalty area and referee appointed penalty kick. Accurate kick of Farrukh Ismaylov ended with a goal - 1:2. The score did not change, albeit the Azerbaijani footballers had several real attacks.

Azerbaijani team, which is on the results of this match remained on the last place in its group, will play its last match with Italian national team.
