10 dead in blast at firecracker unit in Telangana, India

In a massive fire at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Telangana, India, at least 10 workers lost their lives while several others suffered serious burn injuries, according to India Today newspaper.

The incident took place at the Bhadrakali fireworks unit located in Kashibugga area of Warangal district on Wednesday morning.

The fire, followed by an explosion, completely demolished the building of the manufacturing unit while several of the dead workers' bodies were found hundreds of feet away from the unit.

While four fire engines rushed in to douse the fire, the injured have been shifted to the MGM Government Hospital.

While the cause of the fire is yet not known, administration fear that casualties may rise further as the number of people working at the unit at the time of blast is also not known.
